Silverwood gets new coaster 2008

Post by Derrick on Insider:

In total surprise, we are going to get a new ride after all. This machine is going to “knock the shoes off our guests” (quite possibly literally). Known as “Déjà Vu” in its current Gurnee, Illinois location, the ride will soon be dismantled and trucked to our neck of the woods. The placement of the ride is still in the planning, but the ride is scheduled to open with the 2008 season.

I’m excited for it. Good thing the foreigner isn’t here, if she can’t handle the corkscrew, she wouldn’t be able to handle this.

You are getting a ride that has a 80% downtime status, dont get your hopes up! This ride was CLOSED 80% of 2005 and 2006 season becuase it is a very SENSITIVE ride and any little thing will break it, not to top the fact that it was very POORLY designed. It was open 60% of the 2007 season but it was very rare that they could get it to run an entire day without miscatching, or having to shut it down for an hour or 2 EVERY DAY! So remember, if you see it open, DONT worry about the lines, ride it while you can!!! Becuase its gonna be a pain and im sure YOUR PARK wont keep it for long!

p.s. The company that made this ride has DISCONTINUED this ride design! There are only 4 Deja Vu replicas in excistance, 2 others in the U.S.A With similar but not as many issues, and 1 in europe with major down time. This was a new design for Vekoma and Six Flags bought 4 at once without giving it a REAL TIME test. This ride you are getting is from my Home Park of Six Flags Great America in Gurnee! It is excellent but im not upset about it going.

Thanks for the info Brandon, I heard some of this stuff on other coaster sites as well. I hope Silverwood did some research on this and have a plan, instead of just throwing it in and hoping it works.

I want to know where you heard that this ride was going to Silverwood? Most of the other rumors are saying it’s going overseas.

Also, please remove my video of DejaVu. I did not give you permission to use it.

In reply to Jon: If you did not want your video on people’s websites, you should not have uploaded it to YouTube. From the YouTube Terms of Service:

6.c. … “You also hereby grant each user of the YouTube Website a non-exclusive license to access your User Submissions through the Website, and to use, reproduce, distribute, display and perform such User Submissions as permitted through the functionality of the Website and under these Terms of Service.” …

As a user of the YouTube website, Justin is using a video on YouTube via the YouTube embeddable media player (a function of the YouTube website). He is fully within his rights, you have given him permission, whether you realized it or not.

Jon, we got the info from silverwood insiders who claim to know the park is getting it. It could still be rumors, we’ll find out soon enough for sure.

As for the video, what god said. When you upload a video to youtube anybody can embed it on their websites. You do have an option to make it private, but then only your friends on youtube can see it, and nobody else. The only way to get it removed off my website is to delete it from youtube yourself (and that might not work). If somebody stole the video from your site and uploaded it to youtube, take the issue up with youtube and then let me know. I will delete it from my site if somebody stole it from you and uploaded it without your permission.

Why would you not want your video shared with more people though? That doesn’t make much sense to me.

I was at the Gurnee Park and was one of the first to ride it when it debuted in 2001. I was fortunate to be one of only 100 people in the park that night so I was able to ride it a couple of times that night. Thrilling ride with great intensity. I live in the area and visit Six Flags usually a couple times a year. Everytime I have gone to Six Flags after that night the ride has been closed down. There were two rare times that the ride was open when I arrived but surely by the afternoon it was down again.
I went this year in October and it was just about dismantled. Sad to see a big deserted spot, but glad to see it gone.

Good Luck.
