Hot Air Ballooning
We got to go hot air ballooning over in Newberg Oregon this last week (on July 25th, 2008). Vista Balloons had us meet them at the airstrip at 5:30am. We drove from 2 1/2 hours away to make it there on time, and it was worth it. We started by checking in than helping them set the balloons up. There were 3 balloons going up, 2 of the balloons had 4 sets of couples each, and the other had just one couple (the guy proposed to his girlfriend on the balloon). We we’re the second balloon off the ground, which was great because we we’re able to see the first balloon take off and rise into the sky. The highest altitude we hit was around 2300 feet, which seemed plenty high enough. Our balloon was the only one able to do a “Splash and Dash”, which is where the balloon drops out of the sky slowly and bounces off the the surface of the water, causing a small splash. We were up in the air for a little more that an hour before we landed. We all helped deflate the balloon and pack it up, than were served Champagne and Brunch by Vista Balloons. This was definitely a great experience, Heather and I both enjoyed it alot. We took tons of pictures, and got a few great videos. Check out the picture by viewing the Hot Air Ballooning gallery, and see the videos below.
